About Abraham
Dr. Abraham J. Lopez holds a doctorate in clinical psychology and his specialty is in clinical neuropsychology. Dr. Lopez has extensive experience in the assessment of cognitive, developmental, genetic, psychiatric, and neurological conditions. He currently holds a position as clinical neuropsychologist at El Paso Children’s Hospital where he works closely with the neurosurgery and oncology department to assist in pre and post operative neuropsychological assessments.
Dr. Lopez has an appointment with the Department of Psychiatry at University Medical Center (UMC) El Paso. He works alongside a specialized neurology and neurosurgery team whose primary focus is epilepsy. Dr. Lopez is also Clinical Assistant Professor (Community Faculty) for the Department of Psychiatry at Paul Foster Medical School & Texas Tech Psychiatry Residency Program in El Paso.
Dr. Lopez is invited on a regular basis, to offer lectures on various topics to resident physicians and fellow physicians, along with other professionals in the field. Topics include the assessment and treatment of developmental conditions, cerebral palsy, epilepsy, and neurocognitive disorders. He has participated as chapter co-author for three professional publications. Dr. Lopez has appeared in various television interviews for local news programs in San Antonio and El Paso, Texas that include Fox, Univision, Telemundo, CW Channel, and ABC. Dr. Lopez regularly contributes in local community efforts to create a better awareness of mental health issues in the community.
