Clinical Neuropsychology
Clinical Neuropsychology is a specialized field within psychology that examines the relationship between brain function and behavior. It integrates principles from neurology, psychology, and cognitive science to assess, diagnose, and treat individuals with brain-related conditions that affect thinking, emotions, and behavior. At LarLo Behavioral Services, we evaluate how various brain disorders—whether congenital, traumatic, degenerative, or acquired—impact cognitive processes such as attention, memory, language, perception, and problem-solving.

A central focus of the assessments that are administered at our office is understanding brain–behavior relationships, or how specific brain regions contribute to different mental functions. For instance, the frontal lobes support executive functioning and behavior regulation, the temporal lobes are linked to memory and auditory processing, the parietal lobes manage visuospatial abilities, and the occipital lobes handle visual perception.
We assess key cognitive domains such as attention, memory, executive function, language, visuospatial skills, processing speed, motor coordination, and academic abilities. These assessments help identify cognitive strengths and weaknesses and guide treatment or rehabilitation.

We work with individuals who experience cognitive difficulties due to neurological or developmental conditions. Common disorders include traumatic brain injury, stroke, epilepsy, brain tumors, multiple sclerosis, Parkinson’s disease, and dementias such as Alzheimer’s disease. We also assess neurodevelopmental conditions like attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), learning disorders, intellectual disabilities and certain autism spectrum disorder (ASD) referrals. LarLo Behavioral Services is also experienced in the administration of Independent Medical Evaluations (IME).
